Ritual Theatre

The Ritual Theatre grew out of a research production at Huddersield Polytechnic called Electric Sunrise. The company was formed from actors and musicians equally and performed from 1972 to 1974 touring the UK and Europe.

Artists who performed with the company (from top left in photo) Billy Currie (viola), Lindsay Cooper (bassoon),  John Attenborough (actor);

(from bottom left in photo) Clive Bell (flute, shakuhachi), Jenny Moss (actor), Hilton McRae.

Other artists who performed with Ritual Theatre include  Ros Davies, John Melville, Caroline Noh, Ed Francis and  Geoff Glendower (actors) and  Sally Minford and Colin Wood (cello).

Apple Theatre

Apple Theatre took its name from its sponsors, the Beatles Apple Corps, and grew out of the earlier Apple Peel that performed childrens’ shows on Brighton beach in the summer of 1968. The company toured the UK from 1968 – 9, based originally at the Brighton Combination.
