The Ritual Theatre grew out of a research production at Huddersield Polytechnic called Electric Sunrise. The company was formed from actors and musicians equally and performed from 1972 to 1974 touring the UK and Europe.

Apple Theatre took its name from its sponsors, the Beatles Apple Corps, and grew out of the earlier Apple Peel that performed childrens’ shows on Brighton beach in the summer of 1968. The company toured the UK from 1968 – 9.
